QA-19, 11 November 2025, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Öncü Keçeli, in Response to a Question Regarding the Incidents in Kirkuk Caused by the Provocative Actions Against the Iraqi Turkmen Front

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 11.11.2025

We have closely followed, in coordination with the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) officials, the incidents that took place in Kirkuk today (11 November), on the eve of the Iraqi parliamentary elections, caused by the provocative actions targeting the election posters of the ITF, and urged the relevant parties to exercise restraint.

We wish Allah's mercy upon the security personnel who lost their lives in the incident and a speedy recovery to those who were injured.

The peace and stability of Kirkuk, which represents a microcosm of Iraq's social diversity, are even more important during the election period.

During this critical period, we expect the Iraqi authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure the peace and security of all components of Kirkuk.

We hope that the Iraqi parliamentary elections will be completed peacefully and that the election results will contribute to the unity and integrity of Iraq.
