QA-14, 28 Febuary 2020, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, in Response to a Question Regarding Migrants and Asylum Seekers in Turkey

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 28.02.2020

Latest developments in Idlib, which resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people, further increased the migration pressure on Turkey. These developments are followed by our nation and international public opinion and also deeply affect the asylum seekers and migrants in Turkey.

In this respect, some asylum seekers and migrants in Turkey, who were concerned with these developments, started to move towards our Western borders. If the situation exacerbates, this risk will further increase.

As the world’s largest refugee hosting country, there is no change in Turkey’s policy towards refugees and asylum seekers.
