No: 151, 28 May 2019, Press Release Regarding the Election of the Republic of Turkey to the Membership of the Executive Council of the UN World Tourism Organization
During the 64th Meeting of the Commission for Europe of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Zagreb, on 27-30 May 2019, the Republic of Turkey, which has presented its candidacy to the Executive Council of UNWTO for the period 2020-2023, has been elected to the Executive Council by receiving 26 votes out of 40 countries on 28 May 2019.
Turkey, with its knowledge and experience in the field of tourism and as a member of the Executive Council of UNWTO, will strive to accomplish UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development also in the framework of UNWTO and make sustainable tourism a universal goal.
