Press Release Regarding the Istanbul Meeting of the International Contact Group for Afghanistan

The next meeting of the International Contact Group for Afghanistan, formed in 2009 as a prominent platform where the international efforts towards contributing peace and stability in Afghanistan are coordinated, will be held in İstanbul, on 5 June 2016.

Turkey will be hosting the International Contact Group for Afghanistan meeting once again after 2012, in which some 50 countries are involved.

The reform process, security situation, Peace and Reconciliation Process in Afghanistan and regional cooperation issues will be discussed in this meeting of the International Contact Group, which will be organized prior to NATO Warsaw Summit and Brussels Conference on Afghanistan where important decisions regarding Afghanistan are expected to be taken.

Turkey gladly observes international community’s ongoing support towards Afghanistan and will continue with its contributions to the security and development of brotherly Afghanistan both bilaterally and on multilateral platforms.
